The fan is always on these days. How can I remedy that?

Let me rephrase....Is there anything I can do to cool down my processor so the fan doesn't have to work so hard all the time?

are you sure it's the processor fan? i didn't even know my video card had a fan until it started grinding several months ago. i assumed it was the processor fan but took the side panel off and found the VC fan.

Yeah, I'd say get a can of air, take the pooter outside and blow out all the dirt.
Other than that, you can always remove and reinstall the cpu fan using some artic silver thermal compound, but that's not really a beginner procedure. And it's debatable whether it'll help much or not. |

hold any fan blade that you take compressed air to. i'm pretty sure the grinding on my VC fan was caused by me blowing it out with a compressor and messing up the bearing in there.
